Ages 4 through 11. Here is an exciting, creatively-illustrated language kit that you can use to help children with oral language deficiencies develop listening, thinking, and verbal reasoning skills in the following areas:

The activities center around problems encountered when the story characters plan a trip and travel to the Jungle Jamboree. A variety of decisions must be made and the animal characters in the story must interact with others who are "different." The characters learn the importance of working together and accepting individual differences -Alvis the Elephant (a famous rock star) and Perky Panda are among the stars of the program. Everyone learns the importance of sharing.  At the end of the story, the characters all join together, happy as they can be, at the Jungle Jamboree. They celebrate what they have learned about accepting individual differences and sharing with others.  

 

In Tune with Language is a unique product. The music helps students to become actively involved in the learning activities - Students love the lively songs, and they meet exciting story characters such as Perky Panda , Jiffy Giraffe, and Gorlin the Gorilla.  Perky helps the other animals understand the importance of accepting individual differences. He tells the other animals that "it doesn't matter what color you are because we all have something to share."  Students can relate the experiences of the animal characters to situations that they encounter during social interactions at school - they develop an understanding of the importance of getting along with people from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds.

 

This kit has been used widely by speech-language pathogists and learning disability specialists in programs for special needs children. The activities help students develop basic language, verbal reasoning, and social interaction skills. that are critical for success in the school learning environment. Reproducible worksheets are included in the activity manual

 

Rock, rap, and other musical styles are used in the songs that accompany the program. The kit includes the activity manual, story book, activity cards, music audio CD, and full-color action pictures.
