Ages 6 through 12. This book includes activities designed to teach children to ask who, what, when, where, and why questions more effectively. Games and thinking activities are included in which students ask questions to obtain specific information. Task cards, pictures, and short stories are used as stimuli for the child's responses. Role-playing activities are included in which children ask questions while playing the role of newspaper reporters, detectives, talk show interviewers, etc.

The book is divided into three sections:

• Reproducible Language Lessons and Thinking Activities. Structured tasks are presented in which children ask questions to obtain information, to make comparisons, to determine an appropriate course of action, and for various other purposes. Children are also asked to discuss contextual variables that need to be considered in determining how questions should be asked.
• Reproducible Picture Stories. In each picture story, a simple situation is described in such a way that a variety of different types of questions are possible. The activities help students to create questions and to develop questioning strategies that will be helpful to them in solving problems and in understanding the feelings and actions of others.
• Interactive Activities. Students are given practice in asking questions during interactions with others. Role-playing, interviewing, and interactive gameboard activities are included.
