Ages 8 through 11. Use the game activities in this kit to target words/concepts, vocabulary definitions, pragmatic communication skills, daily living words, and other skills. As students play the game, they practice using language for a variety of purposes.

The five card decks provide language activities in the areas below:

• Daily Living Words and Concepts. This deck focuses on children's understanding of "how the world works" and general word knowledge. Example: How many years are in a century?
• Pragmatics. This deck focuses on various types of social exchanges as children make requests, give information, and direct others in an interactive context. Example: What is a fair way to determine who goes first in a game?
• Words that Sound the Same. This deck focuses on words that sound the same but have different meanings. Example: Tell me what see means. Now tell me about a word that sounds the same but has a different meaning. (sea)
• Synonyms. This deck focuses on words that have similar meanings to other words. The student is asked to provide synonyms for these words. Example: What is another word for humorous?
• Vocabulary Definitions. This deck focuses on common words and their meanings. The child is presented with age-appropriate words and is asked to define them. Example: What does silence mean?

The 264 question cards are divided into five color-coded decks that match the colors of the blank spaces on the game board.

The complete kit includes a full-color, hard-back game board, 5 decks of playing cards, markers, a die, and an instructor's manual with supplemental reproducible worksheets.
